it depends on who our "true self" actually is. do we find our identity in Jesus then what is there to be afraid of? :)

i totally agree with that quote for people who are not identified in jesus. people don't pay any attention to their silent self. so when life throws their past in their face, they freak out. and ya emma, if the man has jesus in his life and still runs away screaming when life gets tough, there is something to question about his faith but if not, its a direct statement that jesus is needed. not as a feel good but as air for life.

I think I agree with this, but I can't decide. What I've been understanding lately is that we are the only ones who underestimate our place in the Story.

We are the ones who assume false costumes each day hoping to get selected for a role we weren't designed for. Our true roles and our true selves are so much greater than the small stories we settle for, It might be that our true selves are intimidating and because the actualization of them requires deep sacrifice and the shaping that only comes through conflict - we might "run away screaming" for safer harbors.
